Nouveau titre de Nas dans GTA IV

Sur la Bande original du jeu Grand Theft Auto IV on pourra y retrouver un titre inédit de Nas. Le morceau "War is Necessary" (produit par Wyldfyer) a été écrit spécialement pour ce jeu et sera peut être aussi sur la tracklist de l'album "Nigger".



GTA IV sera disponible le 29 avril.

Jay Electronica sera sur "Nigger"

Dans une interview donné au magazine URB, Nas a déclaré que Jay Electronica serait présent sur son nouvel album "Nigger" en tant que producteur mais aussi comme MC. Cet artiste est signé sur le label Control FreaQ Records d'Erykah Badu et prépare actuellement son 1er projet solo qui devrait sortir dans le courant de l'année. Il a déjà sortie 2 EP qui ont séduit pas mal de monde et notamment Nas qui n'a pas hésité à lui payer des séances de studio pour enregistrer son 2ème EP "Act II: Patents of Nobility".

What makes Jay so special?
Nas : “He does him man. I thought that when you get into something you get into it because you want to represent and do it to the fullest, regardless if you getting the credit or not. I hear people that think they not getting the respect they think they deserve, complaining to people because they not on top. Or blamin’ record companies or blamin’ other rappers they record with. And you know that happens all the time but it’s rare that you see someone that’s not asking for a handout, that’s not looking for a lookout. Someone who came into the business like how I came. I didn’t come in with a platinum, multi-platinum act in the middle of the rap world when it was on top. I had a verse in ‘91 with a fairly underground rap group. And it created my buzz and I had to climb on my own. I would not have accepted me coming into the business any other way. You know? And today people get superstars to endorse them and it got a lot easier and they still complainin’. Somebody like Jay Electronica got their awareness of the same shit, superstars. He’s onto his own thing and that is everything to him. It doesn’t matter if people pay attention today. It doesn’t matter when they get it, but they going to get it.”

And musically?
Nas : “He got that shit where, you know, shit just sound like music. And you can hear what he’s saying and when he gets into it he goes all the way into it. He knows there’s an audience out there that can hear what he’s saying and that’s what he’s been with me in the studio, like fuck that, they going to know what you mean, they going to know what you saying.”

Really Doe & Nas

En 2005 le monde entier a découvert Really Doe sur le second album de Kanye West "Late Registration". Ce natif de Chicago a été invité sur le titre "We Major" en compagnie de Nas.


Dans une interview donné au blog Fake Shore Drive il revient sur sa collaboration avec Kanye West et Nas, parle de son 1er album "First Impression" qui sortira à la fin de l'année et annonce que Nas fera partie des featuring.

You debuted on the standout track, and my personal favorite from Late Registration, “We Major”. You came in the industry on a track with Nas, and according to most, you stole the show. How did that feel?
Man, I was so honored for that. I’m honored that the world got to hear that record and respect me off a hook. The people and the fans are what keeps me going, and it’s great to hear people say that is there favorite hook in all of hip hop. In fact, I was just talking with Beyonce and she told me that was her favorite hip hop hook of all time – that’s crazy.

It was more than just your average hook, in my opinion.
Yeah exactly, I mean my label, GOOD Music, we strive to be different than everybody else and you can hear that in my style. You really can’t compare me to any artist that’s out there right now. So as far as my album, I’m bringing a lot of energy into it. I wanted to make First Impression a classic album and something you can listen to three years from now, but still sounds like it came out yesterday.

The praise you received must have been crazy, going from a relatively unknown to appearing on a track with Nas & Kanye. That must have changed your life immensely…
Well, before I was on “We Major”, I was on the College Dropout tour as the opening act. I also worked on the Truth tour with Usher, Kanye and Christina Milian, I had a two song opening set every night. So people knew me to some extent before the track with Nas. You know, I actually wrote Nas’ verse for that track if you actually paid attention to what he’s rapping about: “I asked my man to the right, what his verse this sound like, should I freestyle or write, he said Nas what the fans want is Illmatic still.” I like to bring the best out of everybody regardless of who they are, and this was my first major look to the world. At first Nas came with a really dope political verse, and I was like “you really don’t need that, you need that Illmatic, you need that gutter, so let me get that.”

So you inspired that?
Inspired it and wrote it. Then we went line for line – and that was most definitely an honor – someone of Nas’ caliber to ask “What should I do, how do you think I should come.” Basically, me and GLC were in the studio with Nas and we were just throwing lines back and forth – I mean don’t get me wrong, I was pacing around the studio (laughs), I’m thinking “How do I tell Nas he has to go harder on this shit” (laughs)

Yeah, that probably would have immediately induced a heart attack (laughs)
Nas is a humble dude. He still takes time out to talk to me when I call, I mean I don’t have a strong relationship with him like I do ‘Ye, so I don’t want to use all my favors up. So I save the favors for: “Nas, let me get that 16” (laughs)

The Roots - "Rising Down" (29 avril 2008)

Il y aura bien une sortie Hip-Hop pour le mois d'avril sur Def Jam, ce ne sera pas le nouvel album de Nas mais celui de The Roots "Rising Down" qui sortira le 29 avril. Il y a déjà 3 titres de ce projet qui sont à écouter sur leur myspace.


Par le passé il y a eu quelques tensions entre Nas et certains membres du groupe dont Black Thought. Lors du concert de Jay-Z "MTV Unplugged" où The Roots accompagnait en live les titres de Jigga, ils ont joué une portion du titre "Takeover" où Jay-Z y attaque Nas, ce qui n'a pas plu à ce dernier et il leur a dit.
A partir de ce moment là il y a eu quelques attaques par presse interposé. Aujourd'hui les choses se sont arrangés et depuis on a pu voir Nas et The Roots sur scéne ensemble lors de plusieurs festivals.

[Rumeur] The Game feat. Nas

En juillet 2006, Dre (de Cool & Dre) avait annoncé que The Game avait enregistré un morceau avec Nas intitulé "Street Rydaz" (titre produit par Cool & Dre).



Finalement le titre n'avait pas été retenu sur le tracklist du 2ème album de The Game "The Doctor's Advocate" mais pourrait se retrouver sur son nouvel album "L.A.X." qui devrait sortir cet été.

[Rumeur] Nas & Kelis se seraient séparés

Selon plusieurs magazines people, Nas & Kelis ne serraient plus ensemble. Actuellement ils vivraient chacun dans un appartement différent, Nas à New York et Kelis à Los Angeles en compagnie de sa meilleur amie Dania Ramirez (qui interprète le rôle de Maya dans la série Heroes). Certaines sources parlent d'un possible divorce dans les prochaines semaines...

La dernière photo officielle où on a pu les apercevoir ensemble remonte au 11 février dernier lors de la cérémonie des Grammy Awards avec leurs fameux T-Shirt "Nigger".

[Rumeur] Nas dans le film The Vapors

Le film The Vapors est basé sur la vie du légendaire collectif The Juice Crew. Le casting pour ce film est toujours en préparation et les rumeurs sur les rôles des différents personnages vont bon train.

Nas est présenti pour incarner le rôle de Kool G Rap. Les acteurs confirmé pour ce film sont Cuba Gooding Jr. (Marley Marl), Talib Kweli (Scott La Rock), Clifton Powell (Mr. Magic), Jackie Long (Big Daddy Kane), Evan Ross (MC Shan)
et Keke Palmer (Roxanne Shante).

Big Daddy Kane a récemment signé comme producteur exécutif sur le film au coté de Marley Marl et Roxanne Shante.

Relation compliqué entre Prodigy et Nas

Sur le Blog de son site internet www.hnic2.com, Prodigy a publié la liste des rappeurs qu'il appréciait et Nas en fait partie. Mais comme depuis pas mal d'années, la relation entre Nas et Prodigy est toujours compliqué comme le montre le commentaire de P envers Nas.

Le nouvel album "H.N.I.C 2" de Prodigy ne devrait plus tarder à sortir. Il y a quelques semaines on a pu découvrir le nouveau clip "The Life" extrait de ce projet.

22 avril ou report de date?

Est-ce que l'album sera prêt le 22 avril? C'est à dire dans seulement 6 semaines... Toujours pas de street single et encore moins de single officiel ou de vidéo... Un report de date semble de plus en plus d'actualité et n'étonnerais personne.

R.I.P. Biggie

11 ans après sa mort, la légende Christopher Wallace (21 mai 1972 - 9 mars 1997) aka Biggie Smalls ou encore Notorious B.I.G est toujours intact.
De son vivant Biggie n'a jamais collaboré avec Nas mais ils ont été réunie sur 2 albums posthumes.


En 1999 sur l'album "Born Again", puis sur "Duets - The Final Chapter" sortie en 2005 sur un titre produit par Just Blaze en compagnie de Tupac et Mary J. Blige.

Comme annoncé il y a quelques semaines sur ce blog, Ice Cube a choisie Scarface et Nas pour poser sur le remix de son titre "Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It", 1er extrait de son nouvel album "Raw Footage" qui sortira cet été.

Dans une interview donné au site internet HipHopDX, Kool G Rap revient sur le faite que c'est bien lui qui a introduit Nas à Serch, ce qui a engendré la signature de Nas sur Columbia Records.

Now the other Hip Hop legend I need to ask you about is Nas. “Fast Life” is arguably the best collabo track you’ve done in your career, and I understand that your relationship with Nas goes back like 18 years, that he first met MC Serch at your crib?
Yeah, he did.

So G Rap discovered Nas, not Serch?
Yeah, pretty much. The only thing that would stop G Rap from being known at the time for discovering Nas is that people brought him to me. I first met him through Large Professor. But I introduced Nas to Serch, and that’s basically what got him [his deal with Columbia Records]. That got him his situation.

So you knew he was it back then?
Oh yeah. I knew this kid had something. I knew he was special. I knew he was a talented young dude, and I was definitely willing to do anything in G Rap’s power to get him heard and to get him out there. When him and Serch met at my crib and all that, Serch was blown away by the kid. They exchanged math and all that, and then G Rap went to Cali to record an album. So everything took place [between Serch and Nas] while I was in Cali. But before I went to California I was shopping Nas’ material. I took his material to Def Jam and all that. He even mentioned that in one of his songs [“Surviving The Times”], how I took him to Def Jam and [Russell Simmons] told me he sound too much like a G Rap.

DJ Premier ne veut pas être déçu

DJ Premier a donné ses impressions sur ce qu'il attendait du prochain album de Nas. Il ne veut surtout pas être déçu car pour lui quand on appel un album "Nigger", on se doit de donné le meilleur.

"I don't know why they're making a big deal. When I was coming up my parents had albums like 'That n*gger's Crazy' (Richard Pryor), Sly and the Family Stone had 'Don't Call Me n*gger, Whitey'. No one made a big deal about that."

"I just hope it's a banging album, if you're going to use that title. If it was up to me to do an album called n*gger, believe me it's gonna sound just like the title, beats-wise, lyric-wise, content-wise-everything. As long as its banging I'm gonna applaud him. If it sounds wack, I'm going to be disappointed and diss him like anything else because I have that right as a fan. I'm a fan of Nas so let's hope he bangs it out."

Primo n'a pas travaillé sur cet album, mais est toujours ouvert pour de futurs collaborations avec Nas.

"If he calls me I'm here, but they haven't reached out. I haven't spoken to him in awhile."

Il semble loin le temps où Nas et DJ Premier nous promettaient un album en commun en faisant la couverture de Scratch Magazine (Novembre 2005)...

"Nigger" bientôt bouclé

Tracy Nguyen, représentant de Nas, a réagit aux différentes rumeurs de ces derniers jours.



Tout d'abord il confirme que l'album est prévu pour le 22 avril et que contrairement à ce qu'on a pu entendre, la presse n'a pas encore écouter de titres extraits de l'album mais ceci ne devrait pas tarder.

"Nas is currently putting the final touches on the highly anticipated new album. He has not played any music yet for press, but is looking forward to doing so very, very soon."

Sur la rumeur d'un album en commun de Nas et Jay-Z,
Tracy Nguyen répond simplement...

"We've heard the rumors as well, and can confirm that Nas is only focused right now on his forthcoming solo release."
