Smirnoff Experience, connu pour ses soirées à thèmes, réunira le 7 octobre à New York le groupe N.E.R.D. et Nas dans la salle privée Capitale pour un show de 90 minutes avec d'autres guests qui seront connu dans les prochains jours.
Il y a 35 ans naissait Nas, Nasir Jones de son vrai nom, le 14 septembre 1973 à Long Island, ville située sur la baie sud-ouest du Queens, à New York.
DJ Green Lantern revient avec le site HipHopDX sur l'apport d'un groupe live lors de la tournée Rock The Bells avec Nas et trouve des points commun entre le rappeur du Queens et le MC de Detroit le plus connu au monde.DX: You’ve performed with a live band and Rock The Bells in New York. What was it like for you, as a deejay, performing with other performers in a live situation?
DJ Green Lantern: You’re pretty much the quarterback in that situation. I know the show, and sometimes, you’ve just got to be ready to give queues. Like, “All right, we’re going to stop right now based on the queues that he’s giving me.” It’s one thing with two turntables and a mic. And then when you add guitars, keyboards, trumpet, all kinds of stuff, they’ve got to take their queue from somebody. So there’s the band leader, who’s the bass player, he’s watching me, and I’m watching Nas, because sometimes he’ll call different queues on the show to switch up the show. You’ve just got to be ready to be on your toes, because the show’s going to switch sometimes during the show. It’s a challenge, but it’s a fuller sound, and I always like to think it’s fun.
DX: You’ve also performed with Eminem. How is working with Eminem different from working with Nas?
DJ Green Lantern: Really similar! [Laughs] Very similar, dog. They’re both real cool and down to earth dudes. Sit on the bus and crack jokes and watch DVDs. They’re just regular people. They’re very similar.

Il aura fallu attendre plus de 8 semaines pour enfin voir à quoi ressemble le Lyric Book du nouvel album de Nas que certains pouvaient obtenir lors de la commande du CD.
Il y a quelques semaines on apprenait que Nas et Jay-Z seraient en featuring dans le nouvel album de Ne-Yo sur le titre "Know What I’m Talking About", ceci était soit une rumeur, soit le titre a été enlevé au dernier moment car il n'apparait pas dans la tracklist finale.
Comme on le présentait, le prochain single de Nas sera le titre "Make The World Go Round" (feat. The Game & Chris Brown). La 1ère partie du clip a été tourné à L.A. en début de semaine. Ce clip sera réalisé par Chris Robinson (photo du bas), réalisateur du fameux clip "One Mic" qui avait été nomminé aux Grammys. Comme vous pouvez le voir sur la 1ère photo, Horse et Jungle feront une apparition dans cette vidéo.

Après les clips "Hero" et "Sly Fox" qui sont sortie quasiment en même temps que l'album, quel devrait être le prochain clip?
DJ Khaled a expliqué au site AllHipHop.com sa collaboration avec Nas sur le titre "I'm On" qui sera sur le nouveau projet "We Global" (16 septembre dans les bacs) du DJ de Miami. Le son a été mis sur le net il y a maintenant 2 mois.
"I called and told him I wanted to do a ‘Hate Me Now’ but a little different. It was just time for us to do something. We always wanted to work together throughout the years. Somehow the record got leaked and it really pissed me off because I wanted it to be a surprise. It’s a big record. Nas is spitting that fire…he’s a legend."

Dr. Michael Eric Dyson a annoncé hier qu'il était en train d'écrire un livre sur le 1er album de Nas "Illmatic".
"Every song on Illmatic will be analyzed, interpreted and then re-articulated in a kind of intellectual sense from his own base in Hip Hop and we’re trying to deal with that seriously."
"It means a lot. That’s what we were working for though. It’s finally paying off. It was a lot of hard work put into getting that album how it was – even getting Nas to that point. It’s finally payin’ off. Sometimes it’s a delayed reaction with things. Back in the days, my father would tell me, ‘You’re ahead of your time.’ I didn’t know what that meant. Sometimes that’s a good thing and a bad thing. You get a grasp on it, and you understand what it is, and you realize it."

Sur la tournée Rock The Bells, DJ Semtex continue ses interviews, cette fois ci il est aux côtés de Nas. Ils discutent de Jay Electronica, de la polémique du titre, de certains morceaux clés de l'album, de Bill'O Reilly et des rumeurs sur les projet en commun avec DJ Premier et Dr. Dre (Nas: "rien de concret").
Le 12 aout sortira "Belly 2: Millionaire Boyz Club" en DVD... Mettons les choses au clair, ce projet n'a rien à voir avec le film de 1998 "Belly" avec Nas et DMX dans les rôles principaux, le réalisateur n'est pas le même et on retrouve aucun acteur du casting original (pas de DMX, Nas, Method Man, Taral Hicks ou T-Boz, ni de Hype Williams à la réalisation).
Le projet a été renommé "Belly 2" par le distributeur Lion’s Gate Films, propriétaire des droits de "Belly" comme l'explique Jimmy Henchmen (CEO de Czar Entertainment)
"We originally had a different title for the film. We shot it about three years ago. When we struck our deal with Lion’s Gate Films [who owns the rights to Belly], they really wanted us to rename the project Belly 2. It was going to have a limited theater release, but due to the current market climate for urban films we opted for DVD."Jimmy Henchmen admet même que le seul point commun avec "Belly" et son projet est le thème du film, un hodd movie qui reflète la vie dans les quartiers en Californie.
"Some of the expectations people are looking for in the movie may not be there. We don’t have all the beautiful shots and colors that Hype did, but it gets its point across. We just did one of those hood movies that reflect what goes on in California. We also put some interesting actors in there like Michael K.
